  • A Great History!

    Originally constructed in 1952 the building started out life as RCMP barracks and the local jail. In the late 1970’e the building was moved across the village to its current location and officially opened for business as a Bed and Breakfast in March of 2010.

  • My second time in NWT & Fort Simpson, first time at the MacKenzie Rest Inn a.k.a Lady Slipper. Spacious room, huge comfy bed, loads of towels. Can't overstate the generosity of hosts, Lynn & Mike, who left out bread, cheese, jam, fruit, tea & coffee for new arrivals. Then a full breakfast in the morning of whatever you wanted cooked by Mike! Meanwhile pottery, jewellery, handmade soaps et al by local artists can be found in a cabinet for anyone wanting to buy gifts. No pressure to buy. They are simply on display & you choose if you wish. Very handy if you're travelling with no time to shop. I was delighted to bring local gifts back to Ireland. Note: taxi to airport also available.

  • I have been travelling frequently to the NWT for over 20 years and have stayed pretty much everywhere. Business travel is tiring, but staying in this place really is a treat. The owners are wonderful, the rooms are clean and quiet, and they serve the best breakfast in town. Can't recommend this place enough.

  • Awesome place to stay with great view of the river and expansive outside deck to enjoy. I stayed with my wife and two teenage girls. The hosts were wonderful people, keep clean and very comfortable rooms and prepared a delicious breakfast. Looking at some of the spots in town we were thrilled to have ended up here. The hosts allowed my musically talented 18 year old daughter to play their piano which absolutely made her day. The wifi was strong, a short walk to the heart of the town including a convenience shop and a liquor store. Highly recommend to any and all.

  • I have been coming to this wonderful place for 5 years now almost once a month for business. The decor is clean and bright. The hosts Lynn and Mike are incredibly helpful and attentive. My favourite part is the beds. They are so comfortable and if you want quiet at night it fits the bill. I really like the fact that the town has one of the best Chinese food restaurants (Pandaville) that rivals any big city restaurant. Down on the MacKenzie River and the Liard you can walk the flats by the river and have an evening fire. A beautiful place to get away from the stress.
